OCR: SHOULD 300 BAUD CALLERS BE ALLOWED ACCESS? Callers running at 300 baud are currently permitted access to DARK STAR It takes approximately 4 times longer to download a file, play a game, etc. at 300 baud than at 1200 baud. Given the number of calls DARK STAR receives, 300 baud callers may keep the line busy longer than if they called at 1200. At present there are only 3-4 callers using 300 baud, so their overall im- pact on line availability may not be significant. A decent 1200 baud modem can be bought for under $90. So, the basic question is, should 300 baud callers be denied access to DARK STAR, or is everything fine just the way it is?
